How It Works

How we ship your orders: carriers, international DDP and easy returns

Be Fulfilled cover graphic: How we ship your orders, with USPS, UPS, DHL eCommerce and OnTrac compared to find the best rate for every order.

We ship your orders with multiple carriers so every package gets the best rate. Orders normally leave our warehouse within 24 hours, and historically 99.98% of our shipments have been accurate. For international orders we offer DDP shipping, so your customers pay duties and taxes at checkout instead of at their door. A customer service agent and a free returns portal handle what happens after delivery.

Domestic shipping: multiple carriers, one best rate

We have competitive rates with DHL eCommerce, USPS and UPS, plus regional carriers like OnTrac. Having several carriers means no single carrier's prices decide your shipping costs.

Flow showing how every order gets the best rate: the order comes in, ShipHero compares carriers, picks the lowest cost or fastest option, then it ships within 24 hours.

Every shipment runs through ShipHero, the warehouse management system we use. ShipHero compares the carriers on each order and picks based on the rule that fits it:

  • Lowest total cost. For most orders, the cheapest overall shipping price.
  • Fastest to a deadline. For time-bound orders, the option that meets the delivery date.

International shipping and DDP

Selling outside the US brings one more cost: import duties and taxes. Who pays them, and when, decides how smooth the delivery is.

What DDP means

DDP stands for Delivered Duty Paid. It's one of the international shipping terms known as Incoterms. Under DDP, the seller covers the duties, taxes and import clearance, and the buyer pays only for the goods. Maersk's DDP guide explains the rule in more detail.

The alternative is terms like DAP or DDU, where duties are due on delivery. The customer gets a bill from the carrier or customs before they can receive their package.

Comparison of DDP and duties due on delivery. With DDP, duties are paid at checkout and nothing is due at the door. With DAP or DDU, the customer gets a duty bill on delivery.

How DDP streamlines international orders

  • No surprise fees. Your customer sees the full cost at checkout and pays nothing at the door.
  • Fewer refused packages. A customer who isn't hit with an unexpected bill doesn't have a reason to turn the package away.
  • A smoother delivery. The shipment arrives with duties already paid, so there's nothing left for the customer to settle before they get their order.

We partner with several duties and tax companies, so you can collect duties and taxes up front at checkout and give international customers the same easy delivery as domestic ones.
